Health & Wellbeing Assessment
Health & Wellbeing Assessment
At Limitless Physiotherapy & Performance, we help thousands of people every year to improve their pain levels, lifestyle and exercise and sporting performance. This all contributes to a better quality of life. We are huge advocates for maintaining physical activity and exercise at all ages. Our bodies are designed to move and perform physical activity. Research suggests that a moderate amount of physical activity a day (up to 21 minutes) can limit your all-cause risk of death by up to 30%. For example, exercising moderately can reduce the risk of colon or breast cancer diagnosis by 30-60%, and Alzheimer’s Disease by 40-50%.
Research clearly shows that the risk of diagnoses of serious illness can be reduced, simply, by moving more.
But these aren’t the only benefits. By incorporating more movement:
- We are likely going to lose weight/maintain a healthy weight. This benefits our joints, which will be looser, reducing pain.
- Our muscles will be stronger for longer, meaning day to day things like getting out of a chair, getting out of bed, reaching up to the top cupboard etc, will all be achievable for longer.
- Our bone mass strength will be better, which is great for reducing our risk of osteoporosis and subsequently fractures.
- Our balance will be better for daily tasks and hobbies.
Research also shows that incorporating a healthy diet can prevent:
- Alzheimers Disease (Morris et al., 2015)
- Cardiovascular disease (Diab et al., 2023)
- Stroke (Chhabra et al., 2023)
- COPD (Bejers et al., 2023).
- Rheumatoid arthritis (Nikiphorou & Philippou, 2023)
- Get to the root cause of the issue to get long lasting results, not just short term relief
Our Physiotherapists can help you to guide and educate you to make smarter nutritional choices that can help to maintain a healthy weight. Relative to normal weight, obesity has been shown to be associated with significantly higher all-cause mortality from various diseases (Flegal et al., 2013).
Dietary changes can also help to influence and reduce your pain experience when the pain is as a result of an inflammatory origin (Bjorkland et al., 2019).
At Limitless Physiotherapy and Performance we are passionate about PREVENTION. We want to help you prevent potential illness’ or injuries by helping you put strategies and plans in place to live a better life pain, injury and illness free for as long as possible.
What We Offer:
Health & Prevention Assessments
We are offering in-clinic health and prevention assessments. This health assessment will involve a full screening of your lifestyle with topics like diet, hydration, exercise levels, step count and sleep all discussed.
Medical Checks
This will be followed up by a check up of medical ‘vital signs’ which include your blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature. This will give us an indication of how your heart and lungs are functioning.
Movement Assessment
After this, we will take your body through a full movement assessment to check the range of motions of your joints and flexibility of your muscles. This will give us a good indication of if you have any signs of osteoarthritis or tight muscles. Then, we will take you through a full body strength and balance test which will alert us to any weakness you may have.
Exercise Tests
Finally, we will take you through a small number of exercise tests, which will allow us to assess heart and lung capacity as well as functional strength levels.
Bespoke Plan Creation
After we have gathered all of this data, it will allow us to put together a plan specific to your needs, giving you the best chance to prevent future illness’ or injuries. This plan will be designed to be an ongoing program, so we can progress and improve over the following months and years.
It doesn’t matter if you are active 7 days a week with no issues, or if you are someone that gets pain after walking 5 minutes or standing up from a chair; we believe you will all benefit from getting a health check.
This programme is optimal for individuals who want to make a difference and want to continue to live an enjoyable life without worrying about aging and its associated difficulties. We want to work with people who are committed to bettering themselves everyday over a long and consistent period of time.
