Total Knee Replacement
The knee is the largest joint in the body and is very important, allowing us to walk, run, jump sprint and change direction. It takes a large amount of pressure and stress throughout our lives and as we age, can sometimes lead to issues such as knee osteoarthritis.
Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff.
The main symptoms of osteoarthritis are:
- Pain and stiffness
- Difficulty moving the joint
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Grating/Cracking Sound when moving the joint
If your symptoms become severe and you have tried options such as Physiotherapy. You may need a total knee replacement.

This surgery is hugely successful but does require a lot of work from the patient both before and after the operation.

I went to see Tom around November - he listened to what I was saying, examined my knee and muscles and identified the issue.
We talked through the issues and he drew a great diagram which showed me where I wanted to get to and the steps involved.
With regular exercises just concentrating on these areas my muscles gradually started to work together.
My aim was to be able to ride a static bike and up until now I hadn’t been able to because the pain in my muscles was excruciating - but today because Of Tom’s help I managed it .
Tom is a very knowledgeable young man who answered all my questions and gives great advice.
