Knee Pain
The knee joint is the largest joint in the body and plays an important role in our daily activities, helping us to stand, walk, climb stairs, jump and run.
There are a lot of important muscles around the knee joint, including the calf muscles, hamstring muscles and quadricep muscles. It is important that all of these muscles can not only work well on their own, but also together. Often, if these muscles don’t have sufficient strength to support the joint, it can lead to injuries and pain.
Here are some of the common injuries that affect the knee:
- Ligament tears or strains (i.e. ACL, MCL, PCL or LCL)
- Osteoarthritis
- Patello-femoral injuries such as anterior knee pain, tendinopathies to the patella or quadriceps tendon
- Meniscus (cartilage) tears or damage
- Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease and Adolescent Knee Pain
- Overuse injuries (iliotibial band syndrome)
- Sports injuries in sports such as skiing, running, athletics, cycling, golf or cricket

“Tom has been fantastic throughout my recovery process from various injuries, and I have loved working with him. I presented initially with an aching hip/IT band, which stopped me from doing the hiking and running that I enjoyed. Upon meeting Tom, we talked through my injuries and history and realised that there were other underlying issues which were leading to my difficulties. Tom was kind and thorough and developed a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for me involving massage and exercises. He was also able to advise me on the exercise I could carry out whilst injured.
The sessions with Tom were excellent and I always left feeling further along the route to recovery. He was able to identify a number of areas of need, and I have found that the exercises he has recommended have been massively helpful for my recovery. On a recent hiking trip, when before I would have experienced frequent ankle turns and knee sprains, I had no difficulties.
I am still doing some exercises and keeping Tom updated with my progress. He is an outstanding practitioner and I have no reservation in recommending him.”
