Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.

Your Initial Assessment will be up to 45 minutes long. We take the time to get to know your story, complete a thorough movement assessment and explain your findings, as well as develop your individualised step by step rehabilitation plan. In any remaining time, we can then get started with the treatment and rehabilitation. For more complex presentations, the treatment and rehabilitation may commence at your first follow-up appointment.

Your physiotherapist will discuss this with you after your initial assessment. This will depend on your diagnosis, assessment findings and goals. Typically, our patients achieve their goals within 5-10 sessions.

You do not need to be referred by a doctor to come and see one of our therapists. Our highly trained therapists will complete a comprehensive assessment, and if necessary, they can refer you to your GP for further assessment. If you have already seen your GP or consultant, it is useful to bring any notes with you to your initial assessment.

All of our therapists are degree qualified and are trained to an extremely high standard to ensure that they can help anyone with any of their health, fitness and injury needs. If there are situations which we feel a certain therapist will be more appropriate for you, we will inform you of this.

Wear something comfortable and appropriate for the area of your injury to be assessed thoroughly e.g. shorts for a knee injury or a vest top for a shoulder injury. Your modesty will be respected at all times and we can use towels to cover you up when needed.

If you have a current painful area of the body or injury, we advise you to book in for an Initial Physiotherapy Assessment. This will help us to ensure that sports massage therapy is an appropriate treatment modality for your presenting complaint. If there are any doubts, one of our therapists can speak to you before booking your appointment.

In this scenario, we would advise booking an Initial Physiotherapy Assessment initially. This will enable us to thoroughly assess your injury and ensure that this can be respected and managed appropriately during your personal training sessions.
